EFF Northern Cape chickens out of Orania protest

Reverse image search shows the flyer designating Orania as the destination of the protest as early as the 2nd of April, while the new flyer showing the Premier’s office as the destination being no older than the April 4th.
In an official interview on SABC, EFF Northern Cape Provincial Chairperson, Shadrack Tlhaole stated the party’s usual position:
“Orania might be… we might take it for granted, but only to realise later that they will be the one that will destroy the unity of this country. And for that matter, we need to engage them to stop their nonsense that the reason they have Orania is for them to practice their culture and so forth. Why are they part of this legislature? Why are they part of councils? Why are they doing business with black people and say to us that they can’t stay with us in their neighbourhood. That’s nonsensical.”
Joost Strydom, spokesperson for Orania and chief executive of the Orania Movement, did not regard the event as particularly noteworthy:
“I am not sure if they originally intended to come here, but they have now confirmed they are headed to Kimberley. The community of Orania, as always, has systems in place […] making sure we have a stable and safe Orania. We have had the EFF here before, we have had Julius Malema here, we have had another EFF delegation, and our best option is always to de-escalate, and to diplomatically handle these kind of tense situations, but it is also very important for the EFF to understand that Orania has got a right to exist […]they know it is legal, they know it is a place for Afrikaners […] if they want to score cheap political points by organising marches around these kind of things, just to stay relevant, Orania is not going to jump up and go crazy about stuff like that.”
Jack Miller of the Cape Independence Party initially issued a statement to say that they will be sending “peace keepers” from Brackenfell to meet the EFF. Miller responded to the EFF’s provincial leader by saying, “Mr Tlhaole seems to have forgotten the way the EFF was harassing school children and parents in Brackenfell a few years ago. The EFF does not have a good track record of being disciplined. So our peace keepers look forward to observing the march and ensuring that they behave themselves.”
Miller aims to recall the Brackenfell protest, where they were the only political party calling on supporters to stand up to the EFF protes, and played a significant role in organising the counterprotest. The success of the event in dispersing the EFF protesters was widely regarded as a moral victory for the local community, and a moral defeat for the EFF.
