Lead us up the mountain Rob Hersov

I have been following the work of Rob Hersov over the past few years since he came into view. For the most part, I have found his commentary insightful.

However, about a year ago, I began to feel a sense of paralysis. It seemed that no matter what Rob said or did, I couldn’t see a clear way forward. It felt as though I was being led around the same mountain, over and over again. What is his way forward? What are we to do?

Yet another speech about how bad the ANC is, or BEE, or Eskom, or how ineffective Mr. Ramaphosa has been. However nothing has changed. In fact, things are worse than they were two years ago. We can all feel it. We can see it.

From what I can work out, with my limited knowledge, the way that is being put forward by the elites that run South Africa is to split the African National Congress (ANC) and merge its apparent liberal voters with the Democratic Alliance (DA) into a new centrist party.

However this political engineering is not working, largely due to a misreading of cultural identity loyalties. Rather than changing their approach, our elites persist in advancing, what appears to be a flawed plan, one that threatens to drag us into more chaos.

What could work is for Rob to break rank with the elite class and lead us up the mountain. It is for Rob Hersov to do the manly thing and publicly back the Cape Independence groups and Lex Libertas. Why these?

We need a solution that works for all the people living in South Africa and this is exactly what what Ernst Roets is working towards. However to move in this direction, real pressure must be applied to the elite class that rule the wealth in South Africa. How do we do this?

The most effective way is by throwing our full support behind Cape Independence and Lex Libertas. This will generate real internal pressure, the kind necessary to drive forward a model that reflects South Africa’s cultural, ethnic, and linguistic diversity. This is the model that Lex Libertas is working towards.

Rob, now is the time to act. Take the bold step. Forget the DA’s centrist plan and stand fully behind Lex Libertas and Cape Independence. Many are warning that if you stay the course with the DA, you’ll come to regret it.
